On February 26, Dreweatts & Bloomsbury London will be auctioning nearly 700 photos taken in space and on the moon, dating from the very first photo outside the Earth’s atmosphere in 1946–from the launch of a V2 rocket–to the final lunar mission in 1972. At the right, you’ll see Buzz Aldrin’s self-portrait in space from the Gemini 12 mission in 1966. The auction, called “From the Earth to the Moon”–I would have gone with “Spaaaaaace!”–is on view this month at London’s Mallett Antiques.
The respective casts of Apollo 13 and The Right Stuff were all unavailable for comment.
